Review: Vampire Knight, Vol. 2

We last left our story as Zero the newly formed vampire gives yuuki his gun that only harms vampires to use on him if he turns into a class E vampire or any of the others if they get out of control.

Volume two is an all around Zero fest, we tag along on Zero's fight against the vampiric nature that's befallen him. But there's something more his teacher comes to the academy, what will happen? You have to realized Zero's teacher is a vampire hunter and taught Zero everything he know's on the subject. Will he kill, support, or in-cage Zero? Only by reading this second book will this question be answered.

Okay, so here we go. This book was able to give me more of an outlook on Zero although he was depressing, but who wouldn't be depressed after turning into the one thing you hate. After all if I turned into a leach ... I'd be depressed (note leaches are what I hate). Yuuki ends up being reckless as ever showing us her vigilante side.

Spoilers people!
When Zero bites Yuuki, it seems to me that they've started a forbidden love. You see how I see it is Kaname and Yuuki are basically married but Yuuki's also fooling around with Zero. Near the end of the second volume she gets caught by Kaname and says she doesn't regret what she did but question's to why her heart hurts when she looks at Kaname (guilt duh!). But if you look at this in the best friend going to go on a killing rampage, she's just helping her friend.

So that's that. I haven't been able to read or review, between, work, a sick baby, hanging out with my friends before they leave for college or just move. Oh and I've started a Nuzlocke run, You can check that out on my gaming blog http://moms-gaming.blogspot.com/ enjoy.

Review: Vampire Knight, Vol. 1

We start volume one with Yuuki sitting in the snow, staring at her gloves, while a rogue vampire tries to attack her, moments later a vampire named Kaname. Years later in present time, Yuuki is a perfect attending Cross Academy, the school is separated in two halves The Day Class and The Night Class. What's special about the Night Class is that their vampires, the role of the perfects is to make sure the secret of the vampires don't get discovered. (The perfects are Yuuki and Zero.)

Vampire Knight volume one, to me it seems more of a love triangle story than anything. But it's Yuuki and Kaname who like each other and then Zero who's the third wheel who thinks he's running the show... that was a horrible analogy, but I hope people understood it. I remember reading this volume when it was published in Shojo Beat, but I had to refresh myself on the manga. I like the whole concept of the vampires and humans co-existing together without the humans even being aware of what's happening. The plot hasn't ripened enough for me to criticize or have much of an opinion on the matter.

The Characters themselves Yuuki's the only one that I'm able to have a solid opinion on, she's the goody-two-shoes type of girl. She seems to give her over 9000% when it comes to protecting vampires but everything else she just shoves aside. She seems like a normal girl, with a normal crush (although in her case on a vampire), the way she behaves is realistic with the exceptions of her outrageous stunts. The rest of the characters appeared too briefly to make an opinion even a vague one like I gave Yuuki.

Review: Jack Frost, Vol. 2

Book 2 of the Jack Frost series, we last left the characters of Jack Frost staring up at the falling
"blood snow" and the sense that Amityville's final legend will manifest!

So we begin with the allied District's discussion and decisions on how to stop/destroy the North District. Soon after we revert to Junoa, a familiar face, but there's something strange happening. Junoa seem to have a reoccurring dream about this girl in her class; Junoa's woken up by Chahui who's covered in tears, clothes cut up and bloodied, with a completely traumatic expression on her face. The problem is what does it mean!? If you read you might or might not find out, it's all up to.

I found it improved at the beginning but slowed down quickly after the beginning but nearing the end, picked up speed. I love the twist at the end of the book, the ending seemed so perfect. I think that made up for all the slowdown in mid read. The arts still as amazing as the first. I'm going to give it 4 stars, I'm a little reluctant to because I don't like giving them away.

The fact is that this novel doesn't have much of a plot line, it's got "The big" plot line which is basically war of the districts, but then you have "mini" plots which are few, in volume 2 it's trying to get the Mirror Image's memories back. But like I said I'd give it a 4, more of a 3.5 but goodreads doesn't have half stars.

Review: Jack Frost, Vol. 1

Say Hello Class, this is Junoa. She's a new Transfer student from Amityville Private High School. This is the first line you get your main character introduced, but 7 pages in or so, her head gets severed from her body. She soon after learns that she is a Mirror Image, a Mirror Image is a human who dies but instead of going off to the after life they go to Amityville. There for she can no longer die... again. Jack Frost is the number 1 student at Amityville although their less (or are) then 7 people who reside at Amityville (staff included).

There are a few more things about this volume I'd like to discuss but I don't like spoilers and I'm one to try to give as little information to make the reader actually read the book.

But all in all the plot is there, but it's so easily missed that you might as well say their isn't. Most of the pages of this manga/graphic novel are used for the art/action scenes, instead of dialogue or story lines. To sum up what's happening is the fact that there have been a few "fateful events" that have happened which is stirring up. The big attention grabber to the South, Eastern, and Western District is the fact that North District has Junoa aka Mirror Image.

I'm a big fan of the artistry it's very detailed and different than other manga's I've read. It's darker than most I've seen, which is very refreshing. A big 3 stars in total.

To tell you the truth I didn't think I bought that many books these past months until I wrote them all down.

Taking over my life one page at a time!

I've been collecting books ever since I was a little deranged girl, it started with french Disney books and escalated to the book collection I have now. There's a little problem though I've been buying an buying books and I have a ton that haven't been read yet. I've given quiet a few of my books to my son, seeing as I read to him all the time and he likes to trace the words from the books/novels (he steals some of my novels to read). So here's my non-updated library in my room . The top shelf is cut off because it's used for video games.

While my childhood collection is my son's now, and some additions over the years were made to my collection. Now my other collection is on a bookshelf my father built me a few months ago.  This bookshelf's in my living room ... what a messy living room. 

I've bought many books since these pictures were taken. I just found my camera, but now my charger is missing ... but once I find it I'll take pictures every month of what books I've bought/gotten. So until then! 

Review: Blood Hound

Blood Hound by Kaori Yuki

Rion the destructive Domperignon crucher, is a highschool girl searching for her missing best friend. Her only clues are the fact that her best friend's seeing a "vampire" and there are numerous girls disappearing and reappearing later on with their blood sucked dry. There's also a business card from a Gothic Host Club.

I'm going to keep it to that, I find it funny that I can't give this manga a proper introduction for this review without me spoiling anything. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, although I wish there were more volumes and expanded on the main characters. This manga has a little bit of everything, romance, comedy, mystery, school life (not much thought, but school uniforms yes!), etc.

My honest opinion is read the manga! I don't want to say more, because odds are I'm going to ruin it for you or spoil it. Great read.

Review: Bloody Kiss, Volume 2

The second and final volume of the Bloody Kiss. We introduce a new main character Mizukami Sou, Kiyo's long lost childhood friend returned (just a little cheesy). Sou also happen's to be a destroyer of evil (vampire slayer of somesorts), and has returned to protect Kiyo, what will happen!?

Okay so that sums up what was new in volume 2. I love the artwork, and preferred the story line in the second volume to the first one. There's a little bit of a love triangle thing going on in this novel which is okay, but you knew from the fist 15 pages of the first volume who she was going to pick. The story line IS better then the first but it's still a typical love story.

Now I'm going to talk about the mini short story at the end; Please, Mr.Vampire. It's a story of a shop owner named Nagase and a customer named Miku Taira. Nagase a vampire who's is number 23, who only show's up at 23:23. His shop grants wishes to a chosen few, but the deal breaker is that the customer has to give his/her blood to make it happen. What will Miku Taira do!?

Okay so I actually really liked this story, it was cute, sweet, and had a mini moral in it saying that it better to be a fine woman and do your best at everything you do, then to try to achieve beauty for selfish purposes.

Review: Bloody Kiss, Volume 1

The young protagonist Kiyo finds herself inheriting an old estate where two vampires reside, from a grandmother she had never met. Kuroboshi a half vampire\human and his servant Alsh (vampire) have been chased off to this mansion and resided there way before Kiyo had even existed.

Okay so here we go, so that was just a little info on the manga vol. As the title suggest it's a romance type manga although no kissing ... yet, although there is some biting. The reason why I would give this volume 3 stars is because I like the artistry, the plot is lacking, but it's has a good concept. Knowing this type of manga odds are instead of elaborating on the vampiric aspect they'll just, make it an evolving romance. No that that's bad, just lacking. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

I love the fact that vampires are only aloud to take from one person in their existence. The blood from that person will make the vampire mature into an adult, the blood give is called a "Bride". There's something that confuses me though "A vampire can only take blood from one human. We call that person a Bride." as said in ch 1. I'm not sure if that's to "absorb" the "power" of that person with the blood they drink or what. Because is the last chapter of this volume, Alsh drink the blood of a male and says "Even thought I don't like sucking a male's blood." Obviously he's drank before, so I'm guessing that they drink blood to survive (although you see them eating food?), but can only pick one person to be their bride. This is one of those "would you please elaborate?".

The characters, you've got a physically strong main female character, the needy guy always wanting to be with the protagonist, and the perv. This choice in character types, is okay just okay.
